What does StudentSpace do?
We have made arrangements with all the properties in the area to serve as
their referral service. What does that mean for you? Free Help apartment hunting!
In fact, if you SAY StudentSpace REFERRED YOU*, WE’LL PAY YOU $100 CASH as soon as your apartment receives your first month’s rent! We have viewed
all the properties to make sure they are good values. We have agreements with
most apartments in the area. StudentSpace is the only place you’ll find
a comprehensive selection in the area. Furthermore, call us, email us, post
on the discussion board, we’ll help you in any way we can. Shortly we’ll
be posting information on weekends throughout the summer when we will take
groups around to look at housing. Not only will this free service help you
if you want to see the apartment yourself, but it will be a chance to meet
other incoming NU Law and Med students, maybe even a roommate.
* To say StudentSpace referred you, you cannot name anyone other party as
referring you, and must write down StudentSpace as the party that referred
you on the information card which will be provided to you on your 1st visit
to the property.
What other resources are available on the StudentSpace website?
This site is primarily designed to help you find housing around NU, but it
also is an invaluable source to find out what going to NU Law and living in
Chicago is like. We go beyond just telling you NU is located in downtown Chicago,
near the famous Magnificent Mile shopping district, after all loan money doesn’t
allow for much shopping. The promotional material you’ve no doubt received
has told you plenty about the school, and you can check
Metromix (www.metromix.com)
to find out about the city, but no other source combines what Chicago has to
offer with the needs and concerns of law students. Many questions which can’t
be answered elsewhere, are answered here:
- “If I live near school what bars and restaraunts are near me?”
- "I’ve heard of all these neighborhoods; Streeterville, Magnificent
Mile, Lincoln Park and Wrigleyville, where are all these in relation to school?”
- “I need to workout, is there a gym nearby that offers a student
discount?”
- “If I live near school, what public transportation do I take to
go see the Cubs or a play?”
- “If I don’t live near school, what locations are the closest
to
public transportation that gets me to school?”
This site will answer all these questions and more. Eventually StudentSpace
will offer housing in all areas of Chicago. In our inaugural year we are focusing
on the areas closest to school, Streeterville and the Magnificent Mile. We
want you to be happy in your housing choice, so if these areas don’t
meet your needs, just feel free to use StudentSpace as an information resource.
Where should I start?
We recommend that first you look at the neighborhood guide to determine what
area suits your needs, for your life in AND out of law school (yes NU students
do have lives outside of school, even first year). Then look at the apartments
we offer in the area of your interest to see which one fits your needs and
budget. You’ll find tons of school specific information and reviews from
NU students telling you what its like to live in the properties and go to school
at NU.
How do I collect my $100?
After you found your new apartment, use the form to send us your information.
After you have paid your first month's rent we will write out a check to you, that you
can pick up! It's that easy!
What happens when I contact an apartment?
If the apartment can be contacted via e-mail, an e-mail will be sent to them with your
name and e-mail address. You will be provided with information that will allow you to
personally contact the building you are interested in as well. You will have to tell them
that StudentSpace referred you to be eligible
for your $100! Don't worry about getting the contact info more than once, only one e-mail will
be sent to the property, after that you can return to get the information as often as you want.
